Decorating with a deadly duo: Mac and Marcel

It's a brand new year and I'm computer-less (again, thinking of a desktop now), but quite busy making my new house into a home.  As I decorated my new mirrored dresser, I thought I would purge my endless collection of bath, body and cosmetic products, but I didn't find much.  I'm deprived of all things beautiful and scented, but I did finally open up one of my prized christmas presents.  My limited edition Marcel Wanders brush clutch takes my breath away every time I see it on my dresser, and I'm craving more Marcel Wanders than I ever did before.  If I adored his Moooi Mansion, I know I'm going to love his new cosmetics collection at Mac.  Who said you can't decorate your home with cosmetics???

the new ivory brush clutch $96...I hate you Mac and Marcel!

Lip gloss $26.50.  I just want his for the stunning packaging!

Air of Style Scent Concentrate $48.  This would look real nice on my new mirrored dresser!

Stew for the Storm

I finally have a gas stovetop and oven in my new home and am enjoying every bit of it. Last night was 3 batches of banana bread...and tonight is beef paprikash.  Paprikash is a famous Hungarian stew that I had during my trip to Budapest last spring.  After a long day of walking through the beautiful Danube River via the Szechenyi Chain Bridge, this stew was exactly what my hubs and I needed.  I picked up some Hungarian paprika from the Pest side of the city hoping to make some back here, but the blazing summer had me thinking of popsicles and margaritas instead.  Winter is finally here, and it's time....

Hostess gift ideas

It may seem daunting for the one throwing a party, but even guests have a hard time picking the right hostess gifts.  You want your gift to not only provide something that is meaningful to the person you are giving it to, but it should also reflect your personality. Here are some ideas for those who are in the last minute rush to get one, or to remind the ones that forgot about a hostess gift!  What are you bringing to the party this weekend???

Bringing luxurious toiletries lets your host know that you deserve a relaxing day tomorrow

A breakfast basket is a thoughtful way to take the worry out of your host for the morning

If you know your coming into a party with an awkward crowd, this is the perfect way to break some ice!

Rosemary trees keeps the host thinking about you every time they cook
I received one as a housewarming present and it lasted for months!

Don't forget the host may need a catch-all for the night of cleaning ahead

Sometimes the host forgets about the long night ahead, and when guests are having too much fun, this is a perfect way to keep going all night!..with the help of some milk or tea of course!

Happy Homebuilding...almost there

I've chosen Benjamin Moore's Stonington Gray for the bedrooms only because it's a modern neutral and will go with any decor.  Also, it looks amazing in different times of the day, from cool blue to a warm grey, it never looks boring (so far!).

The gas fireplace is in!  The drywall box is still in progress...and one day will be surrounded by stone

Did I mention drama drama drama in the den!
